Powering change
UGEP Environmental, Social, and Governance Initiatives
From solar to innovative energy solutions, Upgrade Energy Philippines (UGEP) is driving change with every project. Our 2024 Sustainability Report explores how our team integrates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policies and initiatives into our operations, the community, and the future.
UGEP aspires to be a leader in the renewable energy sector in the Philippines, integrating high sustainability standards into all aspects of decision-making and operations. We have placed sustainability at the core of our business. We aim to benefit all our stakeholders: the communities we work with, our staff, customers, suppliers, and shareholders.

2024 Highlights
By implementing and adhering to our ESG policies, we demonstrate our commitment to sustainable, responsible business practices and long-term value creation. In our Sustainability Report, we present activities to date, focusing on the year 2024.

PROJECTS
From commercial and industrial solar, we have ventured into utility-scale solar projects that feed power into the grid.

STAFF
As we grew in number, we kept our commitment to diversity and inclusivity. Our ratio of male to female employees is close to 1:1.

CUSTOMERS
We cater to various industries, including food processing, travel, distribution, and semiconductors.

KEY PARTNERS
We formed a joint venture with AboitizPower to provide a strong solar PPA offering. Meanwhile, we secured an investment from Clime Capital and continue to work with DBP and Landbank.

INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY
We leverage the latest innovations in solar and battery technologies, enabling our solar off-grid projects to provide 60% of the energy needs of our sites in remote islands.

LEADERSHIP
We won awards for our industry leadership in progressive policies and practices promoting gender equality.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
Our operational projects have achieved 21,174 tonnes CO2 equivalent in greenhouse gas avoidance.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
We recorded zero safety incidents across all projects.

SOCIAL IMPACT
We launched Solar Nanay, a pilot program to equip women to join the solar energy production workforce through training and job opportunities.

GOVERNANCE
We implemented an ESG management system to support our operations and strengthen our commitment to sustainability.
