JOB SUMMARY:
The Asset Manager will be responsible for leading and developing the Asset Management
team and overseeing the full lifecycle management of UGEP’s renewable energy assets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the existing team of asset management (AM) and
operation & maintenance (O&M) professionals, fostering a collaborative and high
performing work environment. - Manage the recruitment and onboarding of 4 new team members to reach a team
size of 10 by the end of the year. - Set clear team and individual objectives, conduct performance reviews, and identify
training and development needs. - Promote knowledge sharing and best practices within the team.
Asset Performance Management:
- Develop and implement robust asset management strategies and procedures to
maximize energy production, minimize downtime, and optimize the financial
performance of UGEP’s solar and battery assets. - Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as energy yield, availability,
performance ratios, and operational expenses. - Analyze asset performance data to identify trends, potential issues, and
opportunities for improvement. - Implement proactive maintenance strategies and oversee the execution of
maintenance schedules (preventive, corrective, and predictive). - Oversee troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues.
Contract and Stakeholder Management:
- Manage and administer key contracts related to asset operations and maintenance
(O&M), land leases, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and other relevant
agreements. - Oversee warranty claims and ensure vendor obligations are met.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders including O&M
contractors, equipment vendors, software service providers, clients, off-takers, grid
operators, regulatory bodies and other relevant stakeholders. - Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, permits, and environmental
requirements.
Financial and Risk Management:
- Develop and manage the asset management budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and
efficient resource allocation. - Monitor and control operational expenditures (OPEX) related to the asset portfolio.
- Identify and assess potential risks associated with asset operations and implement
mitigation strategies. - Contribute to financial reporting and forecasting related to asset performance.
Technical Expertise and Innovation:
- Maintain a strong understanding of solar PV and battery storage technologies,
industry best practices, and emerging trends. - Evaluate and recommend innovative solutions to enhance asset performance and
efficiency. - Collaborate with the development and engineering teams on technical aspects of new
projects to ensure operational considerations are integrated early in the project
lifecycle.
Reporting and Communication:
- Prepare regular reports on asset performance, operational activities, and key metrics
for the COO and other stakeholders. - Communicate effectively with internal teams (e.g., finance, development, legal) and
external partners.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field) is required.
An advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP) is a plus. - Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in asset management or in the renewable energy
sector (solar and/or battery storage experience is highly desirable). - Strong understanding of solar PV and/or battery storage system operations,
maintenance, and performance monitoring. - Proven experience in leading and managing a team, including recruitment,
performance management, and professional development. - Experience with data analysis and performance reporting tools (e.g. Python, Excel,
Power BI). Experience with solar monitoring software (e.g. FusionSolar) or battery EMS
systems is a plus. - Contract management and negotiation skills, including experience with project
documents and contracts. - Organizational and project management skills, including strong financial acumen and
budgeting experience. - Familiarity with relevant Philippine regulations and grid codes.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in English.
